About
Gordon Cree brings a rare blend of Scottish virtuosity, theatrical flair, and heartfelt musicality to the Wurlitzer stage in the next Wurlitzer organ concert at the Victoria Hall, Saltaire, on Sunday 9th November at 2.30pm. Born in Ayrshire in 1977, he was admitted at just 16 to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, graduating with a Bachelor of Music by age 20. His early mentors included Peggy O'Keefe (piano), Brian Fahey (orchestration), and Professor George McPhee (organ), laying the foundation for a career that spans nearly four decades.
Gordon is a singer, pianist, organist, conductor, composer, arranger, and entertainer, equally at home in classical, jazz, Scottish traditional, and music theatre styles. He has worked with legends such as Marilyn Horne, Dame Vera Lynn, Ken Dodd, Moira Anderson, and Anita Harris, and has performed across the globe, from New York's Stardust Room to luxury cruise liners.
Gordon was named Scottish Young Organist of the Year in 1990, elected a Fellow of the Guild of Musicians and Singers in 2012, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scottish Music Hall and Variety Theatre Society in 2019. He currently serves as Organist and Director of Music at St. Andrew's West Parish Church in Glasgow and is a resident organist at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom-the first Scot to hold that post since 1894.
