About
Come and join us for our June concert on the wonderful Wurlitzer Organ - Two For the Price of One! - with Jonathan Eyre joining resident organist David Lowe.
DAVID LOWE
Born in Shipley, West Yorkshire, David is currently the 'resident' organist at the Victoria Hall, Saltaire, playing, tuning and helping to maintain the superb Wurlitzer. He was introduced to music at an early age and after piano and organ lessons became assistant organist and choirmaster at St Peter’s Church Shipley while still in his teens. He was featured as house organist from June 1965 at the Gaumont (ex New Victoria) Bradford and played in many of the local social clubs. An appointment at the new Silver Blades Ice Rink, Bradford in 1966 led to his moving to London (after a period at Bradford University) in 1967 as resident organist and circuit MD at the prestigious Streatham ice rink for two periods, and later at Lee Valley Ice centre. He continued broadcasting, and giving concerts in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA, and tunes a number of theatre organs around the UK. David plays a wide range of music in a popular style and his programme will feature light music, novelties, music from the shows, from war time and from movies. David's other professional interests include railways and inland waterways.
