About
his full day pastel pencil workshop with Emily Rose Fine Art will take you through how to create a realistic bullfinch and berries portrait.
This course is open to people of any level. We will begin by looking at the medium of pastel pencils and how they work before starting on the bullfinch and berries project. I'll take you through the stages of a pastel painting and how they work for any project. During the day, we will cover underpaintings, colour relationships, tonal value and fine details. This is a friendly and relaxed course with plenty of one on one help and demonstrations to break up the day.
Pastel pencils are often used for wildlife paintings as they have a naturally soft texture that can perfectly mimic feathers. We will look at value to create convincing 3D forms, as well as, colour temperature and edge management to achieve a professional finish.
We will start with a tonal underpainting that will serve as a base for the realistic details over the top. You'll learn how to layer this medium to create depth and textures that appear good enough to touch! You'll be taught with step by step demonstrations and plenty of one-to-one help throughout the day.
