A group of walkers at a triangulation point

About

This interesting and moderately demanding walk will follow a 6.5 miles route along hidden and forgotten footpaths, tracks and fields from Baildon to the centre of Bradford. Meet walk leaders Stephen Wolstenholme and Chris Flecknoe at Baildon Station at 9am. We will cross the river via Buck Lane bridge and ascend steadily up through Thackley, eventually discovering the original village of Idle. We then continue through Wrose before reaching the cliffs above Bolton Woods quarry, where, weather permitting, we will have views across Bradford as far as Emley Moor mast, Queensbury and Ogden Water. The route then takes us gradually down into Bradford where we eventually join the Canal Road Nature Corridor which takes us into Bradford City centre by 13.00, just half a mile before the station at Forster Square - from where we can either make our journey back to Baildon straight away or spend time in the city centre.

The route is generally good underfoot with few muddy sections so sturdy shoes should be sufficient rather than boots should you prefer. There are a couple of easy access stiles and 3 roads, all serviced by pedestrian crossings.

Bring plenty to drink and any snacks for during the walk. There are a variety of places to eat and drink once we arrive in the city centre of Bradford.
