A picture of a group of walkers ascending a hill

About

Meet walk leaders Simon Rebecchi and Paul Robinson at 9.30am at the Potted Meat Stick in the centre of Baildon (close to the bus terminus, central roundabout, and main car park) for a 7-mile Spring Walk. The route will take us to Tong Park Dam and Cricket Club via the path by the Equestrian Centre and through fields. Leaving Tong Park Dam and entering Spring Woods we will turn right to ascend alongside a tributary stream  and then across several fields into Hawksworth Village. We cross the Main Street immediately and ascend out of Hawksworth Village on the path opposite, between properties, passing by a Quarry and over the brow of the hill, to follow a quite steeply descending path. Turning left at the bottom, we follow a wider track to reach Hillings Lane. We take a right to walk along the side of the road for around 100m or so and then cross to take the footpath, over a ladder stile, to Reva Reservoir. We then turn left on path by Bingley Road, followed by a short section of road walking before taking a track on the left to Old Wood farm. This track brings us to an ancient path down to cross Gill Beck at a clapper bridge before heading back towards Baildon via Sconce lane and rejoining the moor via a path through the Scout Hut grounds. The path is then followed across the moor and back up to the centre of Baildon.

Anticipated finish time 13.00. Bring water and any snacks required.

The route does require walkers to cross several stiles, some of which need a certain amount of agility.
