A display of paintings and archival materials from the first events at South Square

During her time at South Square, our Young Curator, Zoe Maxwell, has chosen to delve into the exhibition and events archive. Learning of the centre’s grassroots beginnings and how South Square has remained a significant resource within both the local and artistic community. She has complied her research into an exhibition, Part(y) of the Arts.

This project displays photos and other documentation from the gallery’s exhibitions and events archive, with captions and recollections from members of the community and South Square’s history. Pulling from the archive Zoe has made paintings that reconstruct the various events, introducing visual traces that derive from the recollections collected.
