About

Next to Normal is a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning rock musical that has been hailed as one of the most important contemporary works of musical theatre. Created by composer Tom Kitt and lyricist/book writer Brian Yorkey, it began as a series of workshops and readings before evolving into a groundbreaking Broadway production that redefined what musical theatre could tackle emotionally and thematically.
At its core, Next to Normal is an unflinching portrait of a family living with the effects of mental illness. Raw, honest, and deeply human, it explores love, grief, memory, and survival, asking what it really means to be “normal.”
With its electrifying score and intimate storytelling, this award-winning show is both heartbreaking and life-affirming, leaving a lasting impact long after the final curtain.

Content warning: Next to Normal explores themes of mental illness, grief, and family trauma.

It is recommended for ages 14+.
