About
Following on from the success of ‘Fighting to be Heard’, Bradford’s very own Arabic Calligrapher Razwan Ul-Haq continues his pioneering multi-disciplinary approach. In this district-wide project, he brings Bradford’s environment to life. Since 2024, with the help of Bradford residents, Razwan has been extracting ink from our city’s resources – bricks from Bradford’s iconic architecture, soil from Bradford City Football Club, rocks and stones from the rivers of Bradford, and even certain plants. Arabic Calligraphy Workshops with one of these inks have taken place all over Bradford, and have included a Virtual Reality element. All of these inks have been used to make brand new, home grown artworks, which will be exhibited in Bradford over summer with an exciting Augmented Reality element. You will be able to follow the incredible ink making journeys through short films. The original calligraphies will initially be exhibited here at South Square Centrw and prints will be in three of Bradford’s libraries but look out for more venues!
