The National Science and Media Museum invites families to enjoy free activities exploring sound and vision technology throughout the school holiday.

What’s On

Make and Take: Phenakistoscopes Visitors can create their own optical toy, inspired by an invention first developed nearly 200 years ago.

Science on a Sphere and Optical Toys Demo The museum’s Explainer team presents daily demonstrations in Wonderlab, showcasing light, motion and visual illusion.

Self‑Led Family Learning: Shadow City Families can experiment with light and shadow to build their own illuminated cityscape.

Leeds Young Film Festival: Cine‑Takeover 28–31 March 2026 Leeds Young Film Festival takes over Pictureville with special screenings and hands‑on activities across the weekend.
