Celebrate Yorkshire’s people, places, and landscapes through poetry at the Brontë Parsonage Museum. Hear from acclaimed and emerging poets, including former Writers-in-Residence, and gain insights into the publishing world with Carcanet Press.

Schedule

  • 10:00 – 10:15: Welcome & opening by Noor Jahangir, Bradford 2025 ‘Young Creative’.

  • 10:15 – 11:45: Readings from Ian Humphreys, Zaffar Kunial & Maria Ferguson.

  • 11:45 – 12:00: Break

  • 12:00 – 13:00: Conversation with Carcanet Press and poets Christine Roseeta Walker & Rebecca Hurst. Hosted by Ian Humphreys.

  • 13:00 – 14:00: Lunch (local cafés or bring your own).

  • 14:00 – 14:30: Jenny Mitchell on poetry, Jane Eyre & freeing the enslaved voice. Hosted by Sharena Lee Satti.

  • 14:30 – 15:30: Patience Agbabi reading. Hosted by Sharena Lee Satti.

  • 15:30 – 16:00: Closing with West Yorkshire’s Young Poet Laureate Ayeshah.

About Carcanet Press Founded in 1969 and based in Manchester, Carcanet publishes modern and classic poetry in English and translation. Named Northern Small Press of the Year in 2019, its roster includes Nobel laureates such as Orhan Pamuk, Octavio Paz, and Louise Glück.
