About

Get curious with three talks on science topics, from cancer to archaeology, as part of this year's Pint of Science Festival.

18th May Unseen Histories and Unseen Helpers

We reveal how archaeology, forensics, and geophysics can uncover traces of Nazi German war crimes without excavation, showing why identifying buried but invisible evidence still matters in the present. We also explore how humanitarian rescue dogs have worked alongside humans in the past, continue to operate today, and may shape future disaster response, examining their training, labour, care and inviting light audience participation.

19th May From cells to therapies

An interactive series of presentations exploring cancer biology, health, and disease through hands-on activities and discussion. Audiences will take part in creative demonstrations including a live poll and discussion on health impacts, personal choices, and practical solutions. Designed to be informative, participatory, and fun, the sessions encourage reflection on biology, health, and change.

20th May From Imaging to Intervention in Cancer

Join us for an engaging evening of science where researchers share fascinating discoveries with the public. In this event, we explore how metals from the periodic table are being developed into cancer treatments. From platinum drugs to emerging research on gold and ruthenium, discover the surprising role of metals in modern medicine. We will also elucidate the importance of fluorescence to distinguish cancer cells.
