Two handmade Motanka Doll Rudolph Reindeers with festive details.

About

Discover the magic of creating your own festive Motanka doll – one of the most ancient folk toys symbolising women’s wisdom and creativity.

The Ukrainian word motanka comes from “to wind,” as these dolls are crafted entirely by winding and knotting pieces of fabric or yarn – no sewing needed!

At our workshop, Ukrainian traditions will meet English Christmas spirit, and together we’ll create a festive character – Rudolph the Reindeer! You can hang your Rudolph on a Christmas tree, give it as a gift to friends, or simply enjoy it as a charming handmade toy.

All materials provided. Suitable for all skill levels. Children under 10 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

This event is a part of the cultural Making Bridges project supported by Keighley Town Council.
