Trotacalles : Two people cuddling.

About

Join us for a weekend of powerful feminist cinema from Mexico’s Golden Age, presented in partnership with Invisible Women. These rarely screened melodramas spotlight pioneering women filmmakers who redefined the genre with bold storytelling and emotional depth.

Saturday 8 November, 19:00 Nobody’s Wife (La Mujer de Nadie) Dir. Adela Sequeyro, 1937 A young woman escapes her oppressive home to find freedom and love in Mexico City’s bohemian circles. A landmark feminist film by one of Mexico’s first female directors.

Sunday 9 November, 14:00 Streetwalker (Trotacalles) Dir. Matilde Landeta, 1951 Two estranged sisters—one wealthy, one forced into sex work—reunite in a gripping tale of betrayal and survival. A searing critique of gender and class by a trailblazing filmmaker.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience classic Mexican cinema through a feminist lens, right here in Bradford.
