About

The Widescreen Weekend festival is delighted to present a selection of Korean widescreen favourites, presented in partnership with the Korean Film Archive.

Following our previous celebrations of Japanese and Italian widescreen cinema, this year we are proud to continue our journey through the rich and diverse landscape of global widescreen filmmaking. Korean cinema, both classic and contemporary, offers a wealth of treasures that embody the scale and grandeur of widescreen. From sweeping historical dramas to contemporary masterpieces, they illustrate that the the widescreen format is a dynamic canvas for cultural expression. We invite audiences to discover—or rediscover—these cinematic gems this September.
