All aboard the Polar Express for a month of fun this December! Take a journey to your new family tradition this Christmas with activities for all ages, inspired by classic festive films. 

IMAX 3D: The Polar Express (U) 

For children aged 8+ Before every screening, bring movie magic to life with special hands-on festive activities around the museum, and head to our Winter Wonderlab for a super cool live science show. Get ready for the star of the show, as The Polar Express returns to Yorkshire’s biggest screen in amazing IMAX 3D.

• 5-6, 12-13 & 19-24 December – The Polar Express
  A young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole aboard the Polar Express. Experience this festive favourite on Yorkshire's biggest screen in spectacular IMAX 3D.

CineMinis (for children aged 5 and under) Settle in for a cosy Christmas story time in the museum before watching a festive adventure on the big screen every Friday morning through December. With special screenings of Julia Donaldson and Raymond Briggs classics, perfect for little movie lovers.  Make it a full day out with a tasty picnic lunch, Christmas colouring in, fairies and a dinosaur in the Sound and Vision galleries and playing in Wonderlab. 

• 4 & 22 December – Stick Man (U)
  The much-loved Julia Donaldson story follows Stick Man on an epic journey home in time for Christmas.

• 11 & 21 December – The Gruffalo (U)
  The animated adaptation of Julia Donaldson's bestselling tale about a clever mouse and an imaginary monster.

• 18 & 23 December – Father Christmas (U)
  Raymond Briggs' festive classic follows Father Christmas as he swaps present deliveries for a well-earned holiday.

Kids' Club Family Favourites - Cosy up with a hot chocolate and a gingerbread reindeer and enjoy a classic Christmas family film, every weekend in December. Plus, get hands-on with make-and-take activities inspired by the films and live shows that really bring the magic of the movies to life. 

• 5-6 December – Arthur Christmas (U)
  Santa's clumsy but big-hearted son races to deliver one forgotten present before Christmas morning.

• 12-13 December – How the Grinch Stole Christmas (PG)
  Jim Carrey stars as the grumpy Grinch, who hatches a plan to steal Christmas from the cheerful residents of Whoville.

• 19-20 December – Home Alone (PG)
  Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister is accidentally left home alone and must outsmart two bungling burglars.

• 21 December – The Santa Clause (U)
  A family comedy about an ordinary man who unexpectedly finds himself taking on the role of Santa Claus.

• 22 December – Frozen (PG)
  Join sisters Anna and Elsa in Disney's magical winter adventure packed with unforgettable songs.

• 23 December – The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG)
  Halloween Town's Jack Skellington discovers Christmas and decides to put his own spin on the festive season.

  Judy Garland stars in this beloved musical set in turn-of-the-century America.

• 13 December – The Shop Around the Corner (U)
  A charming romantic comedy in which two shop employees unknowingly fall in love as anonymous pen pals.

• 20 December – The Bishop's Wife (U)
  A heartwarming Christmas fantasy about an angel sent to help a bishop and his struggling family.
