Ilkley Manor House Exterior

About

Brian Burton a former lecturer in drawing and design, a designer for the Yorkshire textile industry for over 25 years, presents his latest exhibition a personal, visceral response to diverse elements of the North Yorkshire countryside. Images that respond to the force of nature both visually and emotionally: from hedges to local watercourses to rockfaces.

What unites this assortment of source is Burton’s creative practice: His multilayering of marks, the gradual build up to the sophisticated final painting. All begin with extensive preliminary observation as is evidenced in his working sketchbooks.

Brian will be on site throughout the opening days to discuss his work.
