Join us for a full day celebrating Keighley Library Saturday 7th October
It’s libraries week and we want to celebrate all that Keighley Library has to offer. Not a library member? Come and join us and let our friendly staff introduce you to our brilliant library. We will also be launching our Creative resource for our fabulous Create Connect Make project.

- Making Art with Books with Hannah Mallott-Manning 10am or 1pm
Recycling books Workshop all abilities and ages (under 10s should be accompanied by an adult) A relaxed workshop where we will be creating pieces of mixed media art and cards.
- Drama Workshop for children aged 7 to 11 1pm
Come and join the adventures of Hercules with the story “12 Labours of Hercules”! In this workshop, we will explore the different tasks and create still images as a team. The workshop will include fun games, learning about Hercules and his story and by the end of the workshop your child will be inspired by greek mythology and how it can mix with drama.
- Gel Printing aged 14 to adult 1pm
Gel printing or gelli printing is a form of art to make prints called monoprinting. Previously in order to make monoprints you had to have a press to transfer the paints from the plate to the paper or fabric. Today there is a new thing called a gelli plate, which is a soft silicone plate that allows you create beautiful prints without a press.
- Roger Davies Keighley Local Studies Library 2.15pm
Roger Davies has estabished himself as an engaging songwriter through five solo albums and concert performances around the country. After accompanying Fairport Convention as their special guest on a thirty date UK tour in 2016, Roger has enjoyed a succession of sold out shows including an outstanding performance at the Great British Folk Fesival.

- Kevin Bell Artist ‘My trip down memory lane’ paintings of Keighley 10am - 11am.
Kevin will be talking about his paintings and sharing his recollections of growing up in Keighley. Come along and share your memories of life in Keighley in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s. Kevin’s original artwork will also be on show.
- Explore the Archives
We will also have available some of our archive collections including; photo’s of old Keighley, maps & Building Plans. Please feel free to come along and take a look, ask questions and enjoy our collections. All welcome.
- Creative Journaling 2-3pm Drop in, open to adults and accompanied older children. Creative journaling is a fun and personal way to express yourself through words, drawings, and more. It's like keeping a diary, but with a creative twist. In a creative journal, you can write, doodle, paint, collage, scrapbook or anything else to capture your thoughts, feelings, and ideas. It's your special place to be yourself and explore your imagination.
- Interactive Word Art with Mo. All day Help us create a big piece of library wall art using words and images. All ages welcome.
- Interactive fun Poetry all day. All ages welcome
French Knitting with Spongetree 11am - 2pm Drop in all ages welcome. Have a go at French knitting by making a simple knitting nancy from recycled bits and bobs.
- Have a go at Chess all day
- Disco Pod, refreshments and more...... There will also be lots of information about our library and what we do.
