Launching The Nasheed Choir (Bradford) with Hussnain Hanif

About

The Nasheed Choir team will take you through a spiritual journey of traditional Nasheed singing with Hussnain Hanif and Ismaeel Hanif accompanied with Instrumental elements by Daniel Bath. Jimmy Rotheram will deliver a short talk on the important role music plays across the curriculum. The programme will feature a short documentary film capturing the sentiments of the choristers. The grand finale will showcase The Nasheed Choir PENDLE and The Nasheed Choir BRADFORD with Choral Director Julian Evans.

Hussnain is a much respected Nasheed exponent who takes his practice all over the world. Nasheed is a westernised form of mid’ha (praise) that originates from the 1,400 year old Sufi tradition of individual devotion and cultural expression, comprising poetic songs of love, harmony and peace.

Julian is an experienced composer and choral director in the western tradition and he was excited by the harmonic possibilities of Nasheed and how they may interweave in and inspire his own practice.

Together they worked up an idea to combine their two creative disciplines and brought together a group of young people to present Nasheed as a polyphonic choir. The Nasheed Choir is the world’s first Polyphonic Nasheed group.

After a successful launch at Burnley Mechanics Theatre, Hussnain and Julian are now launching The Nasheed Choir with vocal coach Ismaeel in Bradford.

Be a part of history and join us in launching another chorus with the world’s first Nasheed Choir.
