Kolonien is a four-member family band from Sweden that has been one of the leading voices of the Swedish folk revival for over a decade. With a sound that blends acoustic roots music with anthemic, singalong pop, Kolonien has a fresh, appealing sound that brings multiple musical worlds together. Deeply rooted in the Swedish folk tradition Kolonien creates their own musical world influenced also by the natural environment and progressive philosophies of the alternative lifestyle community where they were born and raised.

The band’s third album, ‘Till Skogen’, will be released on April 22, 2022 at Supertraditional in Scandinavia and Cumbancha internationally. The first single ‘Time will tell’ was released internationally in June 2021.

For over a decade, Kolonien has been part of the ‘new-folk’ music scene. With their characteristic vocal harmonies and diversity of musical influences, they have challenged the image of contemporary folk music and created their own creative space on the fringes of traditional music; a mix of acoustic roots music and anthemic singalong pop that brings together several worlds.

Kolonien’s debut album ‘Clockwise’ was released in 2012 and the band was awarded ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at the Folk and World Music Awards. In 2015, Kolonien released their second album ‘Land of Dreams’. International interest grew and after over 500 concerts in 14 countries, the band had a showcase concert at Folk Alliance International in Kansas City 2018, which started annual tours in North America. In 2020, a collaboration was initiated with Vermont-based and multiple award-winning record company Cumbancha to release their third studio album.
