About
'Escape to the Moor' is a guided walk off the beaten track to all Bronte landmarks and beauty spots. You'll walk in the footsteps of the Brontes and explore the wild Yorkshire Moor.
Discover the landscape that captivated and influenced their work. It's what inspired the famous lines in Emily's Wuthering Heights: "I wish I were a girl again, half savage and hardy, and free… I’m sure I should be myself were I once among the heather on those hills."
The walk begins at 9am from the Wuthering Heights Pub in Stanbury and ends there at approx. 1pm. This is a 5.5 mile, dog-friendly guided walk, lasting 4.5 hours across Haworth Moor. It goes off the beaten track to all the famous landmarks and beauty spots. It’s a hilly walk with a little scrambling over rocks but done at a gentle pace. Dogs need to be kept on a lead to care for sheep and nesting birds.
There’ll be plenty of rest points, time to enjoy the views and to take photographs. We walk at a leisurely pace, mostly through narrow moorland trails and you’ll be taken to special places not usually frequented by visitors.
We walk in all weathers, so please plan for it to be cold, wet and windy with lots of layers and you can make adjustments on the day. The moor is usually wet so please expect your feet to get wet and your boots muddy!
Saturday walks are for individuals or couples who prefer to walk with other like-minded people, locally or from across the world. Private bookings are available for £150 on dates of your choice for up to 12 people (£12.50 each), so gather your friends!
