(Circle Dreams Around) The Terrible, Terrible Past

About

Directed by Andrew Leggott and Lisa Debney

An Ilkley Players Greenroom Production

Every year since 1995 around 300 companies of teenagers nationwide have participated in the National Theatre’s Connections project. This year, for the third time, Ilkley Playhouse will be taking part.

The participants will be chosen from an open call out to young people in the area, but the cast is likely to include young people from our Saturday morning Greenroom classes. It is an amazing opportunity for them to perform here in Ilkley, then at the Theatre Royal in York, and possibly even at the National Theatre itself on the South Bank in London in the summer of 2023.

(Circle Dreams Around) The Terrible, Terrible Past by Simon Longman is our designated play. A piece of brand new, specially commissioned writing, it is a dream play. It explores the expectations that we have of life and the way human existence goes forever on in circles. We, the audience, are stuck in the surreal dream with the actors, encircled with no apparent way out. Truly immersive theatre.

Do come and support our young people and explore the circularity of life as you have never seen it before.
