Brotherhood Of Troubadours

About

Three acclaimed singer songwriters share the stage. Each has an established pedigree of performing solo, and with bands.

When they share the stage to sing their own songs, a kind of magic happens which doesn’t occur in a solo performance. Spontaneous backing vocals and accompaniment break forth, as well as a fair amount of banter and anecdotes, and possibly a rousing, foot-stomping ensemble number at the end.

There are currently seven members of Brotherhood of Troubadours - you’ll see George Borowski, Nick Hall and Dave Vermond. It’s not a band…It’s possibly a ‘music collective’, definitely a ‘Song Writers Circle’ and a great way to experience their music.

George Borowski played with several well-known musicians including Sad Café, Meat Loaf, Teenage Fanclub and Pixies. George brings to the stage a warmth and energy which is infectious, and songs which inspire and celebrate life. We are thrilled to have him join the Brotherhood of Troubadours. Whilst playing for a group known as The Out in Manchester, he received a compliment from Mark Knopfler, who wrote: “Check out Guitar George, he knows all the chords…Mind he’s strictly rhythm…An old guitar is all he can afford… When he gets up under the lights to play his thing.”

Interesting fact: George was born in 1950 in Wrexham in North Wales to Russian and Polish parents. He is a Great-Nephew of the Russian composer, Sergei Rachmaninov.

Nick Hall is an award-winning singer songwriter, half of Plumhall and The Hall Brothers (and he tours as a session guitarist with Magna Carta). Nick has performed all over the world and onstage with many of his heroes including Al Stewart (at the London Palladium), Peter Tork of The Monkees, Larry Campbell, Phil Beer, Chris Leslie, Ian McNabb, Ian Prowse and many more. Recently, he was asked to write a song for, curate the music, and appear in the acclaimed film ‘The Runaways’. Nick’s years of touring and recording have honed his act into something special which has attracted a loyal following. He brings a unique guitar style, stage presence, soulful voice, and emotional songs.

Dave Vermond is one of the most respected and versatile songwriters in West Yorkshire. He has built his considerable reputation on finely-crafted songs – all delivered with passion, wit and a true performer's skill. A mainstay of the Otley Folk Festival for over 20 years, it's in live situations that he excels in doing that “tears to laughter and back again” business with his audience. Dave thrives on the spontaneous, and if belief in performance and reinvention is a pillar of the folk process, it is one he has adopted wholeheartedly. A performer of excellence.
