Brno Philharmonic Orchestra

The Brno Philharmonic Orchestra open the 154th Orchestral Season at St George's Hall.

The Brno Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the Czech Republic’s leading orchestras, founded by Janacek in the 1870s. Their current Music Director is the distinguished American conductor Dennis Russell Davies and we are delighted that this concert will also feature violinist Milan Pil'a, performing Korngold’s most popular work, his Violin Concerto.  The Concerto borrows thematic material from the movie scores the composer is most famous for writing. The concert will end with Dvorak’s iconic and melodic 9th Symphony, the most popular of all his symphonies, his New World,  performed in imitable Czech style, featuring the famous Largo movement, the soundtrack to the Hovis bread advert in the 1970’s.
