An Audience with Nigel Owens

About

On Friday Oct 7th We are delighted to welcome to Bingley Nigel Owens.

Widely regarded as the best Rugby Union referee of all time, Nigel is certainly the most popular. His legendary sense of humour and his ability to manage men in the heat of battle has made Nigel one of the most in demand speakers on the circuit and at this event you will hear it directly from the man himself.

As well as Nigel’s vast achievements on the pitch such as refereeing the World Cup Final, Heineken Cup Final and countless internationals, he also has an amazing story of achievement to tell off the pitch.

Outside Rugby he is a passionate Patron of The Wooden Spoon and Bullies out charities and regularly speaks to charities about his own battles with depression. He was awarded an MBE in 2016.

The international official, who came out as gay in 2007, was rushed to hospital after taking an overdose of sleeping pills. Owens said the rugby community was crucial in helping him to recover.

This night is as funny as it is serious, Nigel’s amazing story leaves his audience in bits, but it also serves as what can be achieved in the face of adversity. His story is as motivating as it is hilarious.
