‘1825 Saint Blaise Procession Outfit’ Display

About

Come to the Spinning Gallery at Bradford Industrial Museum to see the eye-catching outfit worn by wool merchant Richard Fawcett in the 1825 Saint Blaise procession through Bradford.

As one of the founders of Bradford’s thriving worsted trade, Richard, on horseback, was the head of the wool spinners and manufacturers section of the procession. In Bradford District Museums and Galleries collection, this outfit is nearly 200 years old and made from fine worsted and wool.

Also on display is a framed handbill from 1825 which details the Saint Blaise procession which Richard Fawcett led. This display is in association with the Blaise Wool Festival.
