South Square Centre at South Square

South Square Centre is an attractive courtyard of stonemasons' cottages, listed for their historical interest, and now a thriving arts and resource centre.

There is a monthly programme of quality contemporary visual art in the Main Gallery, and entry is free.

This exhibition programme is supported by changing displays of work by local artists and community groups in the Community Gallery.

A vegetarian cafe offers a range of tasty hot and cold lunches, plus homemade cakes, delicious with ice cream!

Art classes are regularly held in the community Gallery, and occasional fairs and arts based events are also organised.

Other attractions include Unit 9, where a group of 19 local artists hold regular displays of their work. Unique Arts is a sales outlet for a collective of a further 40 artists, so with plenty of arts and crafts on view, there is always something to browse and to buy.

There is a picture framer, plus artists' studios.
