The UCI Road World Championships are Coming to Bradford

See the UCI Road World Championships in Bradford & district.  The Women Elite Race starts in City Park on Saturday 28 September at approximately 11.40am.  The Men Elite Race goes through Ilkley and Wharfedale on Sunday 29 September at around 9.20am.

Women Elite Road Race - This is a mass start event where Women's national teams come together in a peloton and compete against each other. The winning rider is the first athlete to cross the finish line at the end of the full race distance.

The Women's elite peloton will leave Bradford and head north into the Yorkshire Dales, before they begin the route south to the finish in the spa town of Harrogate where they will do 3 laps of the Harrogate circuit.

The race, which is expected to feature home favourite Lizzie Deignan, from Otley, will begin with a neutralised start outside City Hall, Bradford at 11.40am on Saturday, September 28.  Bradford to Harrogate – Women Elite Road Race – 149.5km (route plus three circuits)

Men Elite Road RaceRiders will wind their way into the Yorkshire Dales before a trio of significant climbs come one after another. Splits could well emerge if the pace is pushed at the head of the peloton. A battle to regain contact should then develop on the fast approach to Harrogate.

Seven laps of the tough and technical Harrogate circuit will ensure only the strongest survive for a chance to claim the iconic rainbow jersey.

Sunday, September 29 Leeds to Harrogate – Men Elite Road Race – 284.5km (route plus seven circuits) Starts in Leeds. From Otley at an expected 9.09am its route follows the A65 through Ilkley at 9.21 and then Addingham on to Skipton and then via the Dales to Harrogate.
