Saltaire became a World Heritage Site in 2001 and is one of only 27 in the UK and its overseas territories. Built between 1853 and 1876 it is one of the best preserved examples of a Victorian mill town. In recent times it has undergone an extensive regeneration as an arts, retail and tourism destination. Salts Mill houses one of the largest collections of paintings by David Hockney.
