Win a Seat on Santa’s Sleigh25/10/2016
Colour up Christmas at Kirkgate!
Children across the region are being invited to get creative for the chance to win a starring role in Kirkgate Shopping’s Magical Reindeer Parade.
Bradford’s Kirkgate Shopping, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is asking children aged nine or under, to put their crayons, paints and pastels to paper and colour in provided festive drawings.
The annual Magical Reindeer Parade through the city centre on Sunday 6 November, marks Santa’s arrival at Kirkgate Shopping, the home of Bradford’s only free grotto, which has delighted children for four decades. Two winners and their families will join Santa during the parade followed by tea at City Hall with the Lord Mayor, councillor Geoff Reid, on Monday 7 November.
Catherine Riley, centre manager, said: “Kirkgate Shopping’s Christmas celebrations are legendary and we’re incredibly lucky that Santa is joining us once again during his busiest period! Every year we receive hundreds of entries as children are desperate for the chance to ride with Santa through the city centre. We really can’t wait to see the results and announce our winners!
The grotto at Kirkgate is free and our visitors will receive stickers, a hat and chocolate. There’s even chance to leave a letter for Santa which he’s guaranteed to reply to.”
Luana Lancaster, mum of six-year-old Sienna, one of the 2015 winners, said: “Sienna couldn’t stop talking about meeting and sitting alongside Santa Claus in last year’s reindeer parade, it absolutely made her Christmas and is a memory we’ll all cherish. The Kirkgate Shopping Christmas colouring competition is a great way for children to get creative, particularly with the school half-term holidays coming up – and you never know, your little one might be Santa’s special guest this year!”
Entry packs for the competition can be collected and handed in at the Kirkgate Shopping Information Bureau. The closing date for entries is Friday 28 October and the winners must be available to ride in the parade on Sunday 6 November and have tea with the Lord Mayor at City Hall, 5pm on 7 November.
