Make the most of the long weekend

Grand Day Out

 

Join Alice on her adventures through Cliffe Castle, as she tries to find the White Rabbit. Things will become curiouser and curiouser as you journey around the museum.  Items from the collections of Bradford Museums and Galleries will help you unlock the story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, with key characters popping up along the way. There will be plenty of surprises in store including felted creatures created by Malachai Beesley and peculiarly small gardens made by Isobel Cortese.

Visit Bradford Industrial Museum for a Grand Day Out and take a look at the differences in diet, health, fitness, interests and pastimes from the 1800s to the present day. With free children's activities and games, you're sure to have a fun time!

Experiment with light, colour and mirrors to find out more about the science of light. Be inspired by the Media Museum’s collection to create your own colourful chromatrope optical toy.

There's a celebration of film past and present at Rail Story, Ingrow, over the bank holiday weekend (1st & 2nd May) you can enjoy dressing up in a variety of costumes, having your photo in front of Lord Mayor, the promotional engine from the Railway Children film alongside guided film tours of the Carriage Works museum.  There will be a short film show at the front the Carriage Works museum between 11am-3pm each day showing various film clips highlighting the various films the railway has taken part in.

Foodies will enjoy Ilkley Real Food the open-air market will showcase fine food and local produce.  The market is every first Sunday of the month with live demos and tastings.

It's the "Best of British" at the Ilkley‬ Carnival (2nd May) enjoy lots of bank holiday fun with the breathtaking headline act Knights of the Damned performing live jousting. Plus the show stopping parade along The Grove at 11.30am a fantastic family day out!

A NEW beer and music festival for Bradford is set to be held over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. The Bradford Independent Beer Festival will run from Friday, April 29, to Monday, May 2, at the BrewHaus and Stein Bierkeller bars.  The free event will feature more than 40 real ales and ciders from across the UK, including many from local brewers Bradford Brewery and Salamander.

OUR HOTPICK:  From Stephen Daldry, the Oscar nominated Director of The Reader, The Hours and Billy Elliot, comes the multi award-winning West End production of J.B. Priestley’s classic thriller, An Inspector Calls at the Alhambra theatre.

There’s plenty to entertain the whole family every weekend and Bank Holiday in the Bradford district.
