Summer Family Fun

Visit Bradford this summer and choose from lots of different family days out that will keep children of all ages entertained.  A must-do is the National Media Museum, one of the UK's most popular museums . Here you will find seven floors packed full of exhibitions, interactive galleries, activities and the Bradford IMAX, the only IMAX cinema in Yorkshire!

Lots of Bradford museums organise activities for children. The National Media Museum has a jam packed programme of activities throughout the summer including family films, gaming events, and photography workshops.  See our list below for some of the highlights and visit the National Media Museum's website for more information. Bracken Hall also runs regular guided walks and Cliffe Castle  has a regular programme of activities.

Other fantastic family days out for summer include St Leonards Farm ParkKeighley & Worth Valley Railway and Ilkley Lido, which is great fun when the sun come out.

Guided Family Walks and activities

Bracken Hall Countryside Centre 30th July, 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th August, various times.

Join the staff at Bracken Hall on a guided family walk. Enjoy discovering plant and flowers on the Wildflower Meadow Walk on the 15th (bring a camera and magnifying glass) and enjoy a stream dip on the 14th. 

 

 

Photography Fun

National Media Museum, Mon 2nd - Sun 8th August

Join the National Media Museum for a host of special activities exploring both the history of photography and the new, inspiring works created by contemporary photographers. Make your own pinhole camera or 3D digital photograph in one of our family workshops, create your own mini film flipbook or drop into our studio and have your portrait taken in 3D.  For some events booking is required and there is a small charge.

 

Games Galore

National Media Museum, Mon 26th July - Sat 1st August and Mon 16th - Sun 22nd August

Two weeks jam-packed with gaming events and activities inspired by our Gallery Two exhibition Robbie Cooper: Immersion. Drop in for some big screen action and play your favourite Wii games on one of our cinema screens, enter our Nintendo DS tournament, design your own avatar or game in our family workshops and get creative in our drop-in Paper Craft game characteristics activity. For some events booking is required and there may be a small charge.

 

Minibeast Magic

Manor House, Tue 10th August 10am - 12noon and 1 - 3pm
Discover the world of the minibeast with wildlife expert John Dallas. Wear old clothing and prepare to get muddy! These workshops are free of charge, but places must be booked in advance. To book please ring the Manor House on 01943 600066.

 

Caribbean Cool

Bradford Industrial Museum, Thur 26th August , 2nd September 11am - 3pm
Join the staff at Bradford Industrial Museum as they enjoy summer Caribbean style as they make a fun craft carnival head dress. On the 2nd September come and create your own holiday island.
