Ilkley has recently been awarded Walkers are Welcome due to its fantastic countryside, walks for all abilities and its commitment to welcoming walkers. Find out more about the Walkers are Welcome Scheme and also why Ilkley has become a Walkers are Welcome town.

There are an abundance of walks in Ilkley for all abilities and downloadable routes can be found on our site as well as information on long distance routes that start or include Ilkley.

There's also plenty of walker friendly accommodation in the town as well as bars and restaurants that welcome walkers.

As a Walkers are Welcome town we encourage the use of public transport. You'll find plenty of information on bus routes and trains to and from Ilkley.

The Dales Way is a long distance footpath of about 80 miles (129km) which starts from Ilkley to Bowness-on-Windermere. The route offers a scenically attractive route from West Yorkshire to the Lake District.
