Vintage Haworth

Visitors come from all over the world to visit Haworth and the Bronte Parsonage Museum, the former home of the famous literary family. There are lots of other reasons to visit this historic and picturesque village!

If you collect or enjoy vintage clothing, antiques or have an interest in decades gone by then Haworth is your kind of place.

 

 

Vintage Events

Each May the village celebrates the best of the 1940s during 1940s Weekend (May). Visitors travel from all over the UK for this popular festival, dressed up in their best 1940s attire and ready to join in the fun. Dance the night away at one of the Jump and Jive dances or enjoy Big Band sounds, watch the parade of evacuees or book a ticket on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway a vintage steam railway.

In June step back in time to the 1960s for a weekend of mods, rockers, a record hop, vintage fairs and live music. The 1960s Weekend (June) is popular with people of all ages and is a great family day out. Dressing up is encouraged!

During both weekends and throughout the year there are regular vintage fairs selling antiques, collectables, vintage clothing and all kinds of retro goodies.

 

The Old Apothecary

Fantastic Independent Shops

Make sure you also take time to browse the shops in Haworth.  Haworth's Main Street is full of interesting independent shops including Oo La La shop selling the best in vintage clothes and collectables and the Old Apothecary. The Old Apothecary is a delight, full of bath and beauty products packaged up in old fashioned tins, jars and bottles.

 

All aboard the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway

If you fancy getting around Bronte Country spend an afternoon travelling on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, a fully operational steam railway. The railway has a regular programme of events from Beer Festivals to guided walks. One event not to miss is the White Rose Pullman Dining trains. Enjoy a fabulous six course meal on board one of our luxurious 1930s Pullman Cars. All evenings are themed and include appropriate entertainment. Period dress is encouraged but is not essential.

 

East Riddlesden Hall

Things to do in Keighley

Once on board the train make sure you get off at Keighely. Here you will find lots of visitor attractions including East Riddlesden Hall (a 17th Century Manor House, National Trust) and Cliffe Castle Museum. Cliffe Castle has some beautifully restored Victorian rooms as well as an interesting exhibition on Keighley's history.

Near the station is the Keighley Bus Museum which is home to over 50 buses, coaches and trolleys and is open on Saturdays and Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Another popular vintage transport museum is the Museum of Rail Travel and the Ingrow Loco. Get off the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway at Ingrow West for this museum.
