Stanbury

The small village of Stanbury stands in an elevated, isolated setting looking down over two valleys. The village was an agricultural settlement dating from pre-Saxon times. Situated on an important route between Yorkshire and Lancashire, it later developed into a thriving industrial village.
Stanbury is the ideal rural location for a walking holiday. Close to the Pennine Way there are lots of walks to be enjoyed from the village including the popular Brontë Waterfalls and Top Withens Walk.

Stanbury Walks
Stanbury is the ideal rural location for a walking holiday. There are lots of walks to be enjoyed from the village including the popular Brontë Waterfalls and Top Withens Walk. The Pennine Way, a 270 mile walk from the Peak District to Northumberland, also passes through Stanbury. There is also a good network of bridleways and cycle routes in Brontë Country.

Stanbury Accommodation
For a rural getaway why not stay in Stanbury. The Old Silent Inn is a 400 year old coaching inn with a fascinating history. The pub has also won the title of Best Food Pub in Britain 2010. Other guest accommodaton includes Ponden House B&B which is in a beautiful location near the Ponden Reservoir. If you want to camp there is a campsite too. Self-catering accommodation is also available at Hollies and Daisy Cottage.

There are lots of cosy pubs in Stanbury. Have a drink in the Wuthering Heights Inn or the Old Silent Inn.
